Meal Plans 1001

LSU Dining is proud to serve the LSU community! We know that students who eat balanced meals statistically do better in school, and it is our goal to provide them a variety of healthy food options.

LSU Dining Meal Plans are semester-based and designed to offer students convenience, flexibility and affordability. Residential Dining gives students the opportunity to interact with peers in a relaxed setting.

Opened in January 2008, The 459 Commons is a modern and versatile state-of-the-art facility complete with plasma TV's and new menu choices. It is located off Highland Road behind Acadian Hall on the southeast side of campus. The 459 Commons also features an Outtakes store with a Taco Bell and Pizza Hut which is open until 3:00 am Monday through Thursday and until 4:30pm on Friday.

Newly enrolled students living on-campus are required to have a Meal Plan, but we encourage all first-year students to have one. There are five options to choose from!  In addition, we feature the Tiger Commuter Meal Plan to off-campus and upper class students who would like to enjoy the ease of dining on campus.

MEALS are served at The 459 Commons and our new dining hall called The 5 (formely known as Pentagon Dining Hall) which is currently under renovations.  Both offer continuous service from 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:00am - 4:30pm on Friday.  Experience Residential Dining at its best with two state-of-the-art facilities and exciting menu options!  Meals are all-you-care-to-eat and menus can be viewed online for your convenience.

PAW POINTS are flexible "dining dollars" that can be used at any LSU Dining location on campus including the Tiger Lair Food Court, CC's Coffee, Subway, Atrium Cafe, Pierre's Landing, Mini Mart, Magnolia Room, Faculty Club, PJ's Coffee and more!  They are dollar-for-point spending that make getting a quick snack or meal so easy.

A Meal Plan Meal may be swapped for a Meal Transfer Combo and one Meal will be deducted from the Meal Plan balance instead of the Paw Point balance.   Weekend Meal Transfers are also available at the Tiger Lair Food Court beginning Friday at 4:30pm and continuing all day Saturday and Sunday.  Late Night Meal Transfers are offered at the Tiger Lair Pizza Hut from 7:00pm - 10:00pm 7 days a week.  They will also be available at our new Einstein Bros Bagel location on the first floor of the LSU Student Union.

In addition, Outtakes at The 459 Commons allows you to do Meal Transfers anytime during open hours!  Swap a Meal Plan Meal for any Pizza Hut or Taco Bell Combo Meal or choose and Outtakes deli sandwich combo!  Hours are 11:00am - 3:00am Monday through Thursday and 11:00 - 4:30pm on Friday.

Please note that sharing Meals and Meal Transfers do not apply to the UNLIMITED MEAL PLAN!

Consider there are approximately 110 days in the semester including weekends or 75 weekdays. Males tend to choose a Meal Plan with more of the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall meals while females prefer more Paw Points to use for specific items at our retail locations around campus.

Students are free to use Meal Plan Meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner with no weekly usage requirements. Unused meals will not roll over to the next semester, but Paw Points will roll over from Fall to Spring if the student continues with an LSU Dining Meal Plan.

Meal Plans are semester-based.  Unused Meals will be lost after the last class day of the Fall semester.  Paw Points will roll over from Fall to Spring only if the student has a Spring Meal Plan.  Roll-over Paw Points will automatically be added after the 14th day of class.  Any unused Paw Points will be lost if not used before the last day of class for the Spring semester.  They will not roll over from Spring to Summer or Fall.  The balance for Meals and Paw Points is available at any LSU Dining register or on the Tiger Card web site.

You can sign up for an LSU Dining Meal Plan anytime at the Tiger Card Office in the LSU Student Union, Room 207 or on your PAWS account once you are registered for classes. Go to Registration Services, then Additional Services and enter the corresponding Meal Plan code. Your Meal Plan will be added to your fee bill.

Please note, you must complete Registration in order for your meal plan to transfer to your account (Tiger Card).  Students can add a Meal Plan and TigerCASH to their fee bill during registration. After you have chosen your method of payment, return to the "Fee Bill" screen, scroll to the bottom and click "Complete Registration."

You may contact the Tiger Card Office at 578-4300 for more information.

Effective Spring 2009, a 4% tax will be assessed on the Meal portion of all Meal Plans (not the Paw Points).  Please contact the Office of Bursar Operations at 225-578-3969 or email bursar@lsu.edu if you have any questions regarding this charge.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact LSU Dining at 578.6642 or the Tiger Card Office at 578.4300. You may also refer to our FAQ's for further information. We look forward to seeing you soon!
